Available Treatments for Premature Ejaculation

Dapoxetine (Priligy®)

  • Licensed treatment for premature ejaculation in men aged 18–64
  • Taken 1–3 hours before sex
  • Common side effects: nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhoea
  • Alcohol should be avoided while taking this medicine

Emla® Cream (Lidocaine/Prilocaine)

  • Local anaesthetic cream that reduces penile sensitivity
  • Used 'off-label' for premature ejaculation (not licensed for this condition)
  • Must be applied before sex and removed before penetration
  • May cause temporary numbness or local irritation
  • More information will be provided in your delivery
